Organising a fundraising event can provide a huge sense of satisfaction for those behind the efforts. There's no better feeling than achieving your goals, and it can be made even more satisfying when the money you've raised is for a good cause.
That's why we think these record fundraising attempts are something for the people involved to be proud of - and something to use for your own inspiration!
Take a look at these awesome Guinness World Record fundraising efforts:
"Most money raised for charity through head shaving - individual"
Shaving your head has got to be a nerve-wracking experience, but when you raise this much money for charity, it may all seem worth it! Dr William Dorfman managed to raise an astounding US$121,000 when he shaved his head on January 21, 2010. The money raised was donated to The LEAP Foundation, which aims to teach life skills to US students.
"Most hair donated to charity in 24 hours"
Another hairy feat, this fundraising event focused on supporting Pantene's 'Beautiful Lengths' campaign, which creates wigs for cancer patients. Over a 24 hour period, 48.72 kg of hair was donated to the campaign by 881 people on May 21, 2007, in Mississippi.
"Largest charity walk"
Not many fundraising events can beat the grand scale of this charity walk. Held in the Philippines, the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) organised 175,509 people to walk for charity very recently - on February 15 2014. The aim of the walk was to raise money for those affected by Typhoon Yolanda.
